Guided Passages' Wilderness Rites of Passage trips for Teens and young Adults (age 14-24) are a powerful way to mark important life transitions. Our trips are 5-8 day backpacking adventures into the wilderness. After backpacking to our destination, there is group preparation followed by a period of solo time where youth can challenge themselves to persevere through a big challenge and then be welcomed back into the group and community and into this new phase of their lives. Marking big life transitions in this way helps young people move forward in their lives with greater self-confidence, self-acceptance, and purpose.
In our modern day culture, the ancient practice of initiating our youth has been lost. "Our culture is one of the few in history that does not incorporate rites of passage, and...this has severe consequences. This is confirmed by therapists and others who work with the emotional, psychological, and spiritual demands of their clients that, in other societies, are addressed through sanctioned rituals." -Christina Grof
Guided Passages is here to bring back healthy, initiatory experiences for young people, so they can learn to love and accept themselves for who they are and step fully into purposeful and meaningful lives.

Guided Passages, LLC is a Youth Organization committed to creating transformational experiences for teens and young adults that will foster deeper connections with themselves, with others, and with the Earth. Our core values are respect, inclusion, authenticity, and stewardship. We believe that creating safe spaces for young people to feel seen, heard, and valued in conjunction with initiatory experiences, helps them to step into their wholeness as individuals and be able to offer their unique gifts to the world.
This type of support is often lacking or absent for our young people, and we see the consequences expressed every day in our culture that has become disconnected from the importance of community, our relationship with the Earth, and our relationships with ourselves. We try to find meaning through consumerism, technology, and quick fixes instead of heartfelt connection, purpose, and soulfulness. When we are disconnected from ourselves and our purpose, it can be very difficult to find meaning in our lives. This is all the more true these days when our youth are faced with the devastating effects of climate change, a global pandemic, social injustice, school shootings, a faltering economy, and political divisiveness. Anxiety, depression, and teen suicides are at an all-time high. Providing opportunities for mentorship, community support, and rites of passage are essential, and at Guided Passages, we do just that. "Jasmyne was so influential in helping my son understand and overcome his anxious thoughts and feelings. His emotional and mental health greatly improved from coaching with Jasmyne.
She gave him tools that worked, and he became an overall more confident person! I am thankful for the support she provided my son as he navigates the challenges of adolescents.
"These meet ups have been the thing I look forward to every Monday. Rain or shine, they're always wonderful. I particularly like the parts where we talk about our day (rose and thorn and weather check). It always feels so nice to get things off my chest but I also don't feel shamed for not saying anything. If you ever need a place to interact with other kids on a more emotional level, this is it."
"I have really enjoyed this group. It has helped make me feel a lot more connected post Covid and having just moved here. I loved the games and activities; they were all fun. Another thing I liked about this group was that it didn't feel like work in the way other counseling and therapy has felt. It felt more like just thoughtfully hanging out."
"I would say to others that this truly became a safe and comfortable place to talk about the good and bad things in life. I never felt like I would be judged for something I said. I don't think I've ever been in a place where I felt like I wasn't going to be judged."
"After years of little socialization, Youth Connect got me to feel like I could be vulnerable around people besides my family again."
"Thank you so very much for creating such a wonderful private, inclusive space for our girls. My daughter had a great time yesterday. She talked all about the experience and is eager for next week to arrive. My heart is bursting with joy! Thank you! Thank you!"
